GFCF Expert Barrie Silberberg Reports....Recommended Books

by Barrie Silberberg

I just finished the book, “House Rules”, by Jodi Picoult (www.jodipicoult.com) The novel is about a young man, Jacob with Asperger’s, who is accused of murder. Jacob is on a GFCF diet. (Sadly, not a chemical free diet) The book discusses many aspects of autism. It is a very long book, over 500 pages. The beginning kept my attention, but towards the end, it seemed to drag on and have a lot of unnecessary information added. But, it is a good book for someone to learn more about autism and what it means. I love how she has the main character on the diet, it is a best seller and helping to educate many!

There are plenty of non-fiction books out there, besides mine, discussing the GFCF diet. I think it is important for those nay sayers to read the books written by doctors and scientists, who believe that this diet works, who know that this diet works. There is way too much press about lies, that the diet does not work. Why aren’t there more and more scientific and double blind studies on this diet?

I am so perplexed by this.  Over 70% of kids with ASD have shown progress, improvement and miracles by following this diet. There are so many children and adults with other difficulties, disorders and challenges, too, like ADD, ADHD, SID (Sensory Integration Dysfunction), gastrointestinal disorders and more, who have drastically improved on so many levels by changing their diet to one that is healthy and chemical free.   Improvements are seen by simply ridding their diet of foods that cause damage, problems and difficulties.

Here are some books you might want to read from professional believers:

Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies: The Groundbreaking Program for the 4-A Disorders by Kenneth Bock M. D. and Cameron Stauth

Children with Starving Brains: A Medical Treatment Guide for Autism Spectrum Disorder by Jaquelyn McCandless M. D.

Changing the Course of Autism: A Scientific Approach for Parents and Physicians by Bryan Jepson M. D.
